Trump ‘Top 10’ list: David Letterman Donald Trump, As a late-night entertainer, David Letterman endured for more than 30 years. As a retiree, he lasted about two months.
Mr. Letterman, who in May stepped down as the host of CBS’s “Late Show,” made a surprise appearance on Friday night at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Tex., where he crashed a scheduled performance by his friends and fellow comedians Martin Short and Steve Martin.
In a portion of the unannounced cameo that was posted on YouTube, Mr. Letterman, now sporting a fuzzy silver beard, told the audience he had “no regrets” about retiring: “I was complacent,” he said. “I was satisfied. I was content. And then a couple of days ago, Donald Trump said he was running for president. I have made the biggest mistake of my life, ladies and gentlemen.” He then delivered a trademark Top 10 list, titled “Interesting Facts About Donald Trump.” (No. 10: “That thing on his head was the gopher in ‘Caddyshack.’ No. 5: “Donald Trump weighs 240 pounds – 250 with cologne.”) The list was written by Mr. Letterman and Mr. Martin.
Later, on his official Twitter account, Mr. Letterman shared a photograph of himself with Mr. Martin and Mr. Short, with the caption: “Wow, we really DO look like a Flomax ad!”
