Tour canceled: Charli XCX Bleachers, Charli and Jack will no longer “do” America. A second leg of the joint “Charli and Jack Do America” tour between Charli XCX and Bleachers was nixed weeks ahead of its September launch, according to a letter that Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff posted to his fans on Facebook.
“i need you guys to have the truthful and unfiltered version of what happened because canceling shows is something i do not do unless I physically can’t walk on to the stage,” his letter continued. “i know how important these shows are to you guys – they mean everything to me. i wish there was something here that made more sense to all of us.”
A sincere, apologetic Antonoff wrote that he and his team had scrambled to find a way to make it happen without Charli but “between refunding and re-ticketing and figuring out what to do with the venues there is just no way to make this work without it being sloppy.”
He did write that the cancellation of the tour meant he would be returning to the studio sooner to record a follow-up to last year’s debut, “Strange Desire” (can we please get a new Fun record though).
“Charli and Jack Do America” was slated to stop at Hollywood Palladium on Oct. 6.
