‘Today’ personality’s baby: Bobbie Thomas Boy, After a long and public struggle with infertility issues, TODAY’s style editor Bobbie Thomas has given birth to her first child.
The 40-year-old welcomed baby boy, Miles Thomas Marion, weighing 7lbs 5oz on Tuesday, July 21.
Bobbie and her husband Michael struggled to have kids through IVF, but in November 2014, after four rounds of in vitro fertilization, months of hormone shots and doctor’s appointments, she underwent a successful embryo transfer that resulted in a viable pregnancy.
‘It’s so hard to still believe,’ Bobbie said at the time.
Miles arrived just days after his parents moved into a new house and set up his nursery.
Fans were thrilled to hear the news. ‘So excited and happy for @BobbieThomas!’ tweeted one woman. ‘Just read her big news – more prayers and well wishes your way lady!’
Another person wrote: ‘Congrats @BobbieThomas!! I was crying on my couch for you this morning! Your journey gives so much hope!’
Bobbie first decided to go public with her infertility struggles last summer, when she and her husband learned that in vitro fertilization or IVF – the fertilization of eggs outside a woman’s body – would be their best bet to start a family.
She chronicled the process online, sharing her experience with hormones, medications, blood tests and shots, hoping to inspire other women going through the same thing.
‘It’s consuming,’ she said of the IVF process. ‘If you know someone, or if you’ve gone through IVF, it does consume a big chunk of your life.’
Now that the couple are hopefully on the right track, Bobbie has thanked her supporters for giving her guidance and hope every step of the way.
‘Thanks so much to everyone who messaged me, shared advice & offered encouragement these last few weeks,’ she wrote on Facebook.
