Tia Mowry on weight gain, Tia Mowry has spoken out against ‘body shaming’ after online trolls criticized her weight gain.

‘I am not pregnant, I am just happy,’ the former Sister, Sister star told HuffPost Live.

‘I’ve gained these extra 10, 15 pounds because of my cooking show,’ she said. ‘I’m just enjoying life and when I want to drop the pounds, I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am.’

The actress spoke out after nasty comments on her Instagram page saying she had gained too much weight.

The 37-year-old previously hit back at pregnancy rumors in a lighthearted Instagram post, sharing a pregnancy test that read ‘Just fat.’

‘For all the people that think I’m pregnant. I’m NOT just enjoying life and eating and cooking some great food!’ she captioned the image.

‘Thanks:) again I repeat I AM NOT PREGNANT!’

Speaking to HuffPost Live, Tia said the negativity and judgement about people’s appearance ‘needs to stop.’

‘It is a form of body shaming, I will say that, and it’s pretty unfortunate,’ she said.

‘I think that we live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect,’ she said, adding that she agreed with the Beyonce’s lyric ‘perfection is like a disease.’

‘Why can’t we just be us?’ said Tia. ‘Somebody even wrote on my Instagram page today ‘Looks like you’ve picked up a little weight, I hope you loose it.”

‘Really? Why would you say that? Why do you feel the need to say that?’ she wondered.

‘Or I posted a picture of my husband and I and I wrote ‘your love is all I need’… and one person said ‘I hope his teeth aren’t as yellow as yours.”

However, Tia said she deals with online hate by reminding herself that negative comments probably come from a place of self-loathing.

‘This is what I do: I say ‘Is that how you love yourself?’ the mom-of-one explained.

And Instant Mom star said online body negativity ‘needs to stop.’

‘We need to be more supportive with body images, especially with women, showing that all sizes are beautiful,’ she said.

‘We all need to be a little more supportive of each other. I think if we start there, we’ll see a difference.’

The busy actress, who starred with her twin sister Tamara Mowry on hit 90s sitcom Sister, Sister, hosts a Cooking Channel show At Home With Tia Mowry and starred for three seasons on Nickelodeon comedy Instant Mom.

The former The Game star is also set to join the new Fox show Rosewood, playing a lesbian restaurant owner.

Tia, who wed actor Cory Hardrict in 2008, has a four-year-old son, Cree Taylor, and also shared a cute photo of them in bed together, captioning it simply ‘Thankful!’
