Chiranjeevi Updated: As predicted by TOI last week, the script played as scheduled. Praja Rajyam Sunday Party president Chiranjeevi K announced the merger without conditions of his party to 30 months with the Congress.

Speaking to the media outside 10 Janpath in New Delhiafter a 55-minute discussion with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Chiranjeevi said he wanted to do more for the backward classes and was convinced that only the Congress party could help to advance his board of social justice. The merger is expected to take place Feb. 14.

With Chiranjeevi in the fold of the Congress, the party would be one of its main voting base Kapus return. Praja Rajyam Party : Actor-turned politician and Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi on Sunday announced to merge his party with the Congress in Andhra Pradesh, providing much-needed boost to the latter in the state.
Actor south met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence and then informed reporters of the merger.

“I need a much larger platform to take forward the initiative for social justice. Thus, for the private community and oppressed, I decided to combine their efforts to strengthen ourselves and the people, he said, justifying the merger.

“No body is against it. 99 per cent of our party said he’s fine,” he said on the reactions of his own party.

He said that the merger was unconditional and he is more concerned with what people have from this.

He said by joining, it can offer better service to the public, he hoped.

“I have no selfish motive. I’m all for the improvement of people only, “he said, exclude joining the State Cabinet.

Union law minister and Congress leader Veerappa Moily said that the merger will strengthen the Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

Congress in AP is trying to time various political storms, including the question Telanagana state and the challenge of Jagan Mohan Reddy renegade party, son of late Chief Minister YSR Reddy.

Chiranjeevi: Telugu superstar K. Chiranjeevi on Sunday announced the merger of his party Praja Rajyam (PRP) with the Congress, after a meeting with the Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi here.

The actor-turned-politician said there was “no objection” within his party Andhra three regional amalgamation.

“PRI will now merge with the Congress. As of now, Chiranjeevi is part of the family of Congress,” Union Law Minister, Mr Veerappa Moily told reporters here, with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi date with him.

Asked if he expected a cabinet berth, Chiranjeevi said, “I expect nothing. It is their (Congress) allocate … ”

The meeting between Sonia Gandhi and Chiranjeevi held Sunday at the invitation of President of the Congress.

Congress was concerned about the threat posed by former party MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to his government of Andhra Pradesh and had tried to woo the PRI or merge with it or join the government.

The PRI has 18 legislators in the 294-member Assembly of Andhra Pradesh. The 156 members of Congress, had a narrow majority.
