Charlie Sheen Today Show, Charlie Sheen sat down with the Today Show’s Matt Lauer this week for a frank chat about his notorious “breakdown” which lost him his huge-paying job on Two and a Half Men and almost wrecked his career. Lauer began by alerting Sheen to the fact that last year, people were “probably” taking bets on whether he would be alive by now, to which the actor replied, “I would have taken that action”.
Despite gaining cult-status for his antics, Sheen’s drug abuse began to take its toll, though the actor eventually managed to turn things around. He recently began shooting new sitcom ‘Anger Management’, based on the Jack Nicholson movie of the same name. Sheen said it was “team effort, led by myself” that got him out of the mess, but hinted he still enjoys a drink now and again. When asked whether he was comfortable with drinking alcohol from time to time, Sheen replied, “I don’t believe that whole piece of fiction that you have an allegiance to.That’s just me!”. The actor has often voice his opinion against AA methods in the past. When asked why he wanted to get back into television so soon after his acrimonious exit from his last show, Sheen explained, “I couldn’t have the Two and a Half thing be my television legacy. I couldn’t have that end on that note. If this is going to be a swan song, then it’s got to be a beautiful experience, and, so far, eight days there was more fun than eight years”.
