Sets off Oscar buzz: ‘Joy’ and Jennifer Lawrence, She will no doubt be bringing Joy to cinema goers this holiday season who don’t want to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens with her latest film offering.

A new trailer for Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming movie, is now screening and it gives more of an insight into the back story behind the character she plays.

Based on the life of Joy Mangano, a Long Island mother who made millions when she sold her Miracle Mop invention, it sees the Hunger Games actress plays the title role.

Directed by David O. Russell, who garnered great success from his last collaboration Jennifer – American Hustle – he looks set to impress again with his latest work.

Also back in the line up are Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro – who were together with the duo for Silver Linings Playbook.

In the latest trailer for the movie, which is released on Christmas Day, Jennifer can be seen standing in a wedding dress, as she is about to be given away by her father, who is played by Robert.

He turns to his daughter and says: ‘You are so smart, you’re so beautiful, you could have married anyone instead of this…I don’t even know what to call this guy.’

Jennifer responds; ‘Are we seriously talking about this right now?’

The actress is then seen storming along the pavement in the snow, holding a cup in her hand, it then switches to her standing at the check in desk of an airline, where she is waiting to serve passengers.

In the voiceover she can be heard saying: ‘I am in a dead end job, I am in debt up to my eyeballs, and I share my house with my divorced parents, my grandmother and my ex.’

It then cuts to the actress putting drawings up on the wall as she and her daughter put together the idea for her ‘invention’ which is ‘top priority.’

Robert has possibly the best line in the trailer when he tells his ex wife: ‘You know what you are you are like a gas leak, you are silently killing us all.’

Bradley Cooper then enters and he can be heard telling ‘Joy’ it takes nine times to get someone to listen to you when you are trying to tell them something.

Jennifer can then be seen in various stages of trying to get people to take her and her idea seriously, from the boardroom to the workshop, as she is heard saying: ‘I am dong this for my family.’

It then cuts to her preparing to talk about her invention as Bradley says: ‘This woman is going to be a whole new business.’

The trailer finishes with Robert saying: ‘I gotta tell you, I’m a little bit proud of you.’

Joy had its first industry screenings this week and it is already generating Oscar buzz, with some critics saying it could be nominated in a number of categories.

Jennifer said of her character at a Q&A after the screening that she ‘had a fire and gift that she had buried for 17 years.’

According to EW she went on to say the film was a tribute to ‘women who are the unsung heroes of their households.’

The movie follows a family across four generations, focusing on Joy’s rags-to-riches story as she strives against insurmountable obstacles to become the founder of a family empire.

The film also stars Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini and Virginia Madsen.

Jennifer said she could not envisage a time when she wouldn’t want to work with director David.

She revealed: ‘David and I will never, ever, ever, ever not do movies together.

‘I love him so much that sometimes I can’t talk about him without tearing up. Look! I’m tearing up.

‘I understand every look, every eyeball move, every word he says or doesn’t say. We were made for each other.’
