Saturday Night Live, With “Saturday Night Live” featured player Paul Brittain departing earlier this season, there’s a little room on the roster for some fresh meat. Now, a new report from Deadline says that comedian Kate McKinnon will fill Brittain’s shoes as a new featured player starting with the April 7 episode, hosted by Sofia Vergara.

According to Deadline, McKinnon, along with Jessica Joy, Lauren Lapkus and Elaine Carroll, have all tested for “SNL” honcho Lorne Michaels in recent weeks, but McKinnon made the cut and will debut soon. NBC has not commented officially on the matter.

It makes sense that Michaels is looking to add more women to the cast, since both Kristen Wiig and Abby Elliott could leave the show at the end of the season.
