Rumer Willis’ gets injured: Rumer Willis Foot Injury, The shoes are in storage – for now. Season 20 Dancing With the Stars champion Rumer Willis suffered a foot injury on Wednesday, June 24, forcing her to sit out from the show’s summer tour, Dancing With the Stars Live! Perfect 10 Tour.
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ daughter, 26, shared the news via Instagram early Thursday morning, alongside a photo of her right foot in a boot.
I have to hang up my dancing shoes for a little bit because of a few stress fractures in my foot but it’s not gonna stop me from singing for you guys on the #DWTSlivetour
“I have to hang up my dancing shoes for a little bit because of a few stress fractures in my foot,” Willis told her fans. “But it’s not gonna stop me from singing for you guys on the #DWTSlivetour.”
The news is a disappointment for the singer, who told fans earlier this week that she was having an “amazing time” on the live tour with her DWTS partner Val Chmerkovskiy. “I am so grateful to be able to keep dancing not only for myself but for all of you guys,” she wrote three days ago. “Feel so lucky to be sharing the stage with such incredible people and a huge thank you to @iamvalc for continuing to help me grow as a dancer everyday.”
The DWTS live tour rep released a statement to Us on Thursday regarding the star’s injury. “While on tour with Dancing with the Stars: Live! Rumer Willis hurt her right foot dancing,” the statement to Us read. “She has been diagnosed with a stress fractures and is currently resting. While it remains unclear at this time if Rumer will be able to dance for the remainder of the tour, she is still having fun with her dancing family and will continue to be on the road with the tour. She is hanging up her dancing shoes (for now), but Rumer is still a huge part of the tour and will be singing in various numbers throughout the 90 minute show.”
After winning the Mirrorball Trophy on DWTS, Willis opened up to Us Weekly on June 3 about her next plans. “I was so bored the week that I stopped dancing,” she confessed at the StarShop app launch party in NYC. “You do this incredible journey and it’s so intense for three months and then all of a sudden you win or your part of the show stops and you’re just done, so I literally started cleaning my whole house I had so much energy I didn’t know what to do with so, I asked about going on tour. I just thought what a great opportunity, I have this new skill and it’s like a new toy to play with.”
The actress, who told Us during the season that she’s struggled with a lifetime of bullying, credited her famous family and the ABC series for the sudden confidence boost.
“The first day I danced on-air, I was nervous; I had been struggling, and the dress rehearsal hadn’t gone well,” she told Glamour this past month. “But after I finished I felt more beautiful than I had in my entire life. Not because of how I looked…but because of what I’d accomplished and worked so hard for.”
Despite her victory, the eldest of the Willis girls said she will always deal with critics. “I still have low moments,” Willis mused to the mag. “Just because I was celebrated on Dancing With the Stars doesn’t mean the bullying has stopped. After the show started, I had to block almost 10 people every day on social media because they wouldn’t leave me alone.”
