‘Rogue’ model punched?: Rick Owens Model Protest, A Paris runway show for the men’s wear collection by the designer Rick Owens was interrupted on Thursday when a model staged a one-man political protest.

The demonstrator carried a cloth with a handwritten message conveying a bizarre threat to Germany’s chancellor: “PLEASE KILL ANGELA MERKEL,” followed by the word “NOT.” The designer’s fashion house was quick to release an official statement asserting that the act was not a part of the show, which Mr. Owens said was about single-minded determination and the struggle not to tip it into aggression. Mr. Owens’s models wore collaged layers of leathery tunics, and some had faces obscured by frizzy helmets of hair.

Update on protester at Rick Owens. The house says it was an ‘independent statement’ by model and that images be deleted. Good luck with that

“Rick Owens does not claim responsibility for the act of protest by a model at the Spring Summer 2016 show,” a release from his press office read. “This was an independent statement and does not reflect the opinion of the house of Rick Owens.”

Along with the official word, the furious designer asked that photographers and media outlets either eliminate photos of the protester or “blur” him out. Mr. Owens also provided a behind-the-scenes comment to Women’s Wear Daily.

“Please say that I punched him,” Mr. Owens told the reporter.
