Rod Stewart’s reunion: Rod Stewart Faces

Published: August 5, 2015

Rod Stewart’s reunion: Rod Stewart Faces, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones will reunite to headline the Rock ‘n’ Horsepower event at Surrey’s Hurtwood Park Polo Club. The annual event benefits Prostate Cancer UK and is organised by Stewart and Jones. It celebrates its third year in 2015.

“This is the third Rock ‘n’ Horsepower we’ve put on for Prostate Cancer UK and it’s shaping up to be the biggest yet,” Jones said in a statement. “The years of the Faces were some of the best of my life and I’m so proud to have been a part of the band. I’m unbelievably excited to have the opportunity to get up on stage with Rod and Ronnie again.”

Faces reunited in 2010 with Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall on lead vocals in place of Rod Stewart and played a headline set at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival. That line-up of the band then went on tour in 2011.

In 2013 Stewart said that he and Ronnie Wood were planning a Faces reunion for 2015 but Wood went on to blame the singer’s management for holding up the reunion. In December 2014, keyboardistIan McLagan died at the age of 69 after suffering a stroke. Bassist Ronnie Lane, meanwhile, passed away in 1997.

There were plans for the band to reunite in 2012 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, Stewart was forced to bow out at the last minute after getting the flu.

Later this month the band will release a new vinyl box set that compiles their four studio albums, as well as a fifth disc of non-LP singles.

‘1970-1975: You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything’ – which is named after their final single – will also feature a variety of extras, such as outtakes and rehearsal recordings.
