Rockers to return to US: Eagles Of Death Metal, Eagles of Death Metal were thrust into the headlines on Friday when a mass shooting at the band’s Paris concert left more than 100 people dead. While the band name might be new to some music fans, the group formed back in 1998, released a debut album in 2004, and has some history on the Billboard charts.
The band’s most recent album, Zipper Down, was released in October and debuted and peaked at No. 9 on the Alternative Albums chart dated Oct. 24, 2015. Zipper Down is the act’s fourth studio effort and also entered at No. 59 on the Billboard 200 and No. 14 on Top Rock Albums.
Zipper Down’s first single, “Complexity,” has seen its official music video collect more than a half-million global views on YouTube.
Zipper Down is one of three charting sets for the band on the Billboard 200, where they previously visited the list with Heart On (No. 57 in 2008) and Death By Sexy (No. 113 in 2006). The band’s debut effort, 2004’s Peace Love Death Metal, didn’t reach the Billboard 200, but did peak at No. 34 on the Top Independent Albums chart.
Their albums have sold a combined 234,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.
In terms of singles, the band has visited one U.S. Billboard songs chart, earning a No. 38 hit on the Alternative Songs tally in 2008 with “Wannabe In L.A.”
