Get your opening taglines ready, ladies.
Bravo is back with a new addition to its “Real Housewives” series. Andy Cohen and company are heading to Potomac, where “new money is good, but old money is so much better.”
According to a news release, the show, which premieres at 9 p.m. Jan. 17, will introduce viewers to “the wealthy African-American families who have broken racial barriers and now reside in the sophisticated community.”
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” will follow the lives of Gizelle Bryant, Katie Rost, Karen Huger, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Robyn Dixon and Ashley Darby, “all of whom have fought for their places in this society by way of legacy or marriage.”
Several of them have local ties; Darby is a University of Maryland grad, as is Dixon, a Baltimore native who was married to Terps basketball star Juan Dixon. Bryant was married to pastor and activist Jamal Bryant, with whom she “lived in Baltimore in wedded bliss for seven years.”
The preview promises tropes familiar to any “Real Housewives” fan: fights on boats, fights about etiquette and fights over bringing husbands to “girls only” events. One can only hope the infamous “girls trip” arc, a “Housewives” staple, brings the women to Baltimore.
Another new show,”The Real Housewives of Dallas,” will come out later next year.
