Pakistan Protest Leaders Hold Talks With Government, Representatives of the Pakistani Government had finally agreed to hold talks with leaders the civilian protesters that started out on Friday. The meeting was held on Wednesday night at a hotel in Islamabad after the Pakistani military suggested that the two parties talk. The government met with representatives of the protesters which includes Imran Khan, Tahir ul Qadri, and senior members from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party which had alleged electoral fraud against the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif.

The talks centered around six demands from the protesters which includes electoral reforms, Mr. Sharif’s accountability for the past election’s rigging, and the Prime Minister’s resignation itself. Some political analysts have speculated that the Pakistani military is supporting the current protests, adding that the mere presence of the protesters inside the Red Zone is due to the fact that the military allowed it. The protesters had been staging a sit-in for a few days.
