More bad news for Rousey: Ronda Rousey Medical Suspension, You may have to wait quite a while for a Ronda Rousey-Holly Holm rematch: The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion won’t be back in the ring for at least two months after her devastating loss at UFC 193, the first of her MMA career, which landed her in the hospital.

The 28-year-old fighter was knocked out barely under one minute into the second round on Saturday by her 34-year-old opponent, who delivered a swift kick to her head. The fight is being touted the biggest UFC upset in history.

The UFC recently released to MixedMartialArts.com a list of fighters’ medical suspensions, which shows Rousey is prohibited from fighting for 60 days and is not allowed to have contact for 45.

The list also showed Rousey could be given a six month-medical suspension unless she is cleared by a head CT scan that reveals no damage. It is unclear if the suspension will be implemented for that long. Following the fight, which took place in Australia, she was treated at a hospital to get stitches on her lip and underwent a CT scan, which came back negative, The Los Angeles Times quoted a UFC spokesperson as saying.

Holm was also put on mandatory rest for a week.

State commissions usually handle medical suspensions, which are not made public in the United States.

“As there is no sanctioning organization in Australia for mixed martial arts, the UFC acts as its own governing body and provides the suspensions to MMA LLC, which acts as the record and suspension keeper for the Association of Boxing Commissions,” read a statement posted on MixedMartialArts.com.

In an Instagram post published on Sunday night, Rousey had said she was “fine,” that she was going to “take a bit of time” and will “be back.”

Fans are eagerly anticipating a rematch before her and Holm.

“Both of these two are going to take the next few months and go back in and start working on s–t,” UFC President Dana White said on Joe Rogan’s podcast this week. “And they’re going to clash again and this second fight will be f–king awesome.”
