Model: ‘I didn’t exist’: Taylor Hill I Didn’t Exist, ?Victoria’s Secret model Taylor Hill just got her Angel wings this year, making her not just one of the most recognizable names of the brand, but in modeling, period. The 19-year-old might be celebrated now, but that wasn’t the case when she was a high school student in Colorado.
“I was the butt of everyone’s jokes [back then],” she told Cosmopolitan.com at a Victoria’s Secret’s Shop the Runway event in New York City on Monday. “Tall, skinny Taylor.”
After signing with modeling agency IMG when she was 14, she left high school at 15 and got her diploma at 16. Taylor didn’t have much of a high school experience, and she’s totally fine with that.
“I didn’t like high school,” she said. “I was ready. I was like, ‘Put me in the world — I don’t care. I’m a nerd. They don’t like me there.'”
Of course, now that she’s famous and her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway strut will be watched by millions of people when it airs tomorrow night, those high school classmates are hitting her up. “Boys didn’t like me then, and now they’re all like, ‘Hey, I went to school with you,'” she said. “Last time I checked, nobody remembers that I went to that school. People were shocked when they found out I went there. I didn’t exist back in the day.”
And with the “sisterhood” she shares with the other Victoria’s Secret models, Taylor is grateful to be in a “loving, kind, caring, and fun environment.” She’s also putting blinders up to any negativity that might be in the comments online. “I try to focus on myself and my life, what makes me happy,” she said. “What I’m doing makes me very happy, so why ruin it?”
