MJ’s Birthday Remembered, Today is the late pop star Michael Jackson’s 53rd birthday. Less than three years ago, the sudden death of the singer rocked the whole nation. The music legend will remember countless iconic representations, eccentric style and personal struggles.

Sunday night marked the 28th MTV Video Music Awards, and while Jackson was not present its influence in today’s music and choreography could not be ignored.

In 1988, the late singer made her first performance at the VMA with the song “Bad.” In 2002, the VMAs were hosted on the birth date of Michael Jackson in 2009 as a tribute to the King of Pop, musicians and celebrities paid tribute to Jackson’s legacy.

This year, to commemorate the occasion, the children of Jackson and parents visited his childhood home in Gary, Indiana. Jackson left three children: Prince, 14, Paris, 13 and nine years after his death Blanket in 2009.

Hundreds of fans celebrated outside the former home of late singer during the weekend. Since Jackson’s death, fans gathered at home to remember him. During the activities, Paris Jackson said one local television station that she “appreciated the fans of her father.”

It is unclear whether the siblings of Michael Jackson were present, but his sister, Latoya Jackson, took to Twitter to wish him a happy birthday brother.

She tweeted, “Happy Birthday Michael! I miss you and we will always love you! You gave such an extraordinary gift to the world! We cherish!”

Fans of the singer also used Twitter as a way to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Jackson.

A fan tweeted, “love transcends international borders. It heals the wounds of racial hatred, prejudice, bigotry and ignorance, ‘Happy Birthday MJ”

Another fan wrote, “Everywhere I go. Every smile I see. I know you are there Smilin ‘back’ to me. Happy Birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TS-EX- KING MJ. ”

Just last week, a Los Angeles judge ruled against the sequestration of jurors during the trial of six weeks against Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray is charged with manslaughter for allegedly administering a lethal dose of anesthetic and other sedatives to Jackson and failure to monitor the singer. If convicted, Murray faces up to four years in prison.
