Miley talks about body issues: Miley Cyrus Body Issues, This is intense. Hannah Montana may have had a song called ‘Nobody’s Perfect,’ but sadly, that’s not what Miley Cyrus was told when she played the teenage pop star on TV. She revealed the struggles she faced in a recent tell-all interview – read on for all the details.
Miley Cyrus, 22, isn’t afraid to show off her body, and she certainly isn’t the same little girl she was when she played Hannah Montana on the hit TV series from 2006 to 2011. But it hasn’t always been easy for Miley to love her body. In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, she confessed that playing Hannah Montana completely messed with her head, giving her body issues before she was even a teenager.

“From the time I was 11, it was, ‘You’re a pop star! That means you have to be blonde, and you have to have long hair, and you have to put on some glittery tight thing,’” she told Marie Claire. “Meanwhile, I’m this fragile little girl playing a 16-year-old in a wig and a ton of makeup. It was like Toddlers & Tiaras. I had f***ing flippers.”

While Miley did an amazing job with playing a happy and healthy teenager, she was actually struggling with being one in real life. She said she was constantly told “what a girl is supposed to be” while she was filming the show, which gave her major anxiety.

“I was made to look like someone that I wasn’t,” she revealed, “which probably caused some body dysmorphia because I had been made pretty every day for so long, and then when I wasn’t on that show, it was like, ‘Who the f**k am I?’”

It’s so sad to think that a fun, lighthearted show like Hannah Montana had such a negative impact on Miley. Fortunately, with the help of her family, friends, and fans, Miley was able to pull through and grow to love her body – which has resulted in skin-tight leotards that prove she’s no longer body-conscious. She was brave to reveal her dark past to the world, but we’re glad she seems to be happier than ever!
