Melissa Rivers as her mom: Melissa Rivers In Joy

Melissa Rivers as her mom: Melissa Rivers In Joy, Melissa Rivers has paid unique tribute to Joan Rivers – with the help of some movie magic.
The TV personality portrays her late mother in the new Jennifer Lawrence movie “Joy.”
In a first look at Melissa’s cameo in the comedy, Joan meets Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, played by Lawrence, at the QVC studios.
During the scene, Joy is getting ready to face the cameras wearing a simple button-down shirt and black pants. In typical Joan style, she offers Joy some blunt fashion advice.
“She should be in a skirt, she’s got nice long legs,” Joan advises. “Show her legs.”
Melissa, 47, is the spitting image of the iconic comedian’s ’90s-era look from her QVC days, and she said she found it very emotional to watch herself play her mother, who died last year at 81.
“I can’t watch myself – especially like that,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
Melissa revealed her appearance in the film was director David O. Russell’s idea, and said the offer was “very hush hush and top secret.”
She also described taking on the role as a “crazy emotional risk.” But Melissa joked that she accepted because “in our family when they offer a job, we always joke the answer is, ‘Yes, how much?'”
The star also opened up about her experience of working with Lawrence on the film, describing her and the “Joy” cast as “lovely and supportive.”
