Megyn Kelly on Trump: Megyn Kelly No Apology

Megyn Kelly on Trump: Megyn Kelly No Apology, Megyn Kelly is taking the high road, after Donald Trump personally attacked her over the weekend for what he called ‘unfair’ questions during the Republican primary debate.

In one interview, Trump singled out the Fox News anchor, inferring that she was on her period when she asked him about his history of making disparaging comments towards women.

When the Republican hopeful was called out for that inappropriate comment, he refused to apologize. Going so far as to say it was Kelly that owed him an apology.

On her show the Kelly File Monday night, the journalist had the final word in the Trump drama, saying she wouldn’t apologize for doing her job and that it was time to move on.

‘You may have heard that there was a dust up involving yours truly and presidential contender Donald Trump.

Trump, who is the front-runner, will not apologize. And I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism.
‘Mr Trump was upset with a question that I asked him at the debate last week about his electability, and specifically comments he had made in the past about women. A few words on that.

‘Apparently Mr Trump thought the question I asked was unfair, and felt I was attacking him. I thought he was asked a tough but fair question. We agree to disagree.

‘Mr Trump did interviews over the weekend that attacked me personally, I’ve decided not to respond.

‘Mr Trump is an interesting man who has captured the attention of the electorate. That’s why he is leading in the polls.

‘Trump, who is the front-runner, will not apologize. And I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism. So I will continue doing my job without fear or favor. And Mr Trump I expect will continue with with what has been a successful campaign thus far.

‘This is a tough business and it is time now to move forward,’ Kelly said.

While Trump continues to lead in the polls, attacking Kelly may have repercussions not immediately evident.

Fox News chairman Roger Ailes is consider a game-maker in the Republican party, and Kelly is one of his favored anchors.

Trump and Ailes reportedly spoke over the phone on Monday morning, according to a statement from Ailes office.

‘We discussed our concerns, and I again expressed my confidence in Megyn Kelly,’ Ailes said in a statement. ‘She is a brilliant journalist and I support her 100 per cent.’

Ailes continued: ‘I assured him that we will continue to cover this campaign with fairness & balance. We had a blunt but cordial conversation and the air has been cleared.’

However, Fox for the most part ignored the ‘bloodgate’ controversy over the weekend, even as it made national headlines.

According to WTAE, both Kelly and Fox executives are ‘disgusted’ by what Trump said.

‘Kelly does not want to be seen as a victim; rather, she wants to stay above the fray and be seen as an independently minded journalist,’ the station reported.

Trump sparked controversy after the debate when he slammed Kelly for grilling him, saying ‘you could see blood was coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her – wherever’ during the debate.

After two days of controversy that saw one campaign adviser say he was leaving the scandal-prone Trump’s camp, the tycoon said he was referring to the journalist’s ‘anger’ and not referencing menstruation.

He told CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday morning: ‘She had great anger when she was questioning me.’

Trump added about his so-called menstruation jibe: ‘Only a deviant would say that what I said was what they were referring to. You almost have to be sick to put that together.’

Trump also went on CBS’s Face The Nation on Sunday – where he criticized fellow GOP candidate Jeb Bush for saying last week he was ‘not sure we need a half a billion dollars for women’s health issues’.

Trump told CBS: ‘I think he’s got a huge problem. Look, I am going to be very much up on the whole issue of women’s health. I mean, it’s very important. To me, it’s vital. And when I heard him say that, I thought it was terrible.’
