Lily Rose Depp Chanel, Johnny Depp was criticised last night for letting his 16-year-old daughter pose seductively in a Chanel video.
Lily-Rose has been signed up by designer Karl Lagerfeld as the face of his new eyewear collection.
Showcasing two different designs from the brand’s upcoming Pearl eyewear collection which is due out in September, the teenager – whose mother is French actress and model Vanessa Paradis -appears in a figure-hugging dress, pouting as she pulls her sunglasses over her nose.
Chanel described her as a ‘baby doll in a world imbued with sweetness and femininity’.
‘Lily-Rose is ravishing, she is a girl from the new generation with star qualities,’ said Mr Lagerfeld, 81, who shot the footage.
But child psychologist Dr Michelle Elliott said: ‘Sixteen-year-olds are not mentally, emotionally or intellectually able to cope with the pressures that these modelling situations place them in. I would not allow my daughter to become a model at that age.
‘I don’t think children are ready to take on the pressures at that age. Research shows that even 16-year-olds who think they are grown up find it difficult to handle pressures of grown ups.
‘We know the effects, by and large, are not good.’
Lily Rose made her modelling debut in a shoot last year for Australian fashion magazine Oyster when she was just 15.

Her 42-year-old mother also appeared in a perfume campaign for Chanel back in 1991 when she was 18. She was also the face of Chanel’s Rouge Coco lipstick in 2010.
Lily-Rose is Depp’s eldest child from his 13-year relationship with Miss Paradis. The couple, who split in June 2012, also have a son, John, who is known to his friends and family as Jack.
In February of this year, Depp, star of Pirates of the Caribbean, married actress wife Amber Heard, 29, after proposing in 2012.
It comes after Cindy Crawford’s 13-year-old daughter Kaia appeared in an advertising campaign for Vogue Italia last week.
She starred in her first campaign at the age of 10 when she starred in an advert for Young Versace in 2012 to publicise a clothing range designed by Miss Crawford’s friend Donatella Versace.
