Lawrence Taylor Ring

Lawrence Taylor Ring, Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl XXV ring has a new home and ownership of it came with a hefty price of $230,401, presumably ending a four-day saga involving a piece of championship jewelry, a former NFL icon and his son.
It’s unclear at this point who was responsible for making the winning bid of the 30 received by SCP Auctions for the item put into auction by Taylor’s son, T.J.
The winner is not Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who promised to buy the ring and return it to Taylor if he hit a specific number of Twitter followers. He set an initial target of 1 million early Saturday morning before lowering the number to 500,000.
Umenyiora, who had roughly 19,000 followers when he made the pledge, reached a bit more than 50,000 when the auction closed Saturday night. He did not place a bid.
At that point, the extended bidding period began and only those who had placed bids could continue in the auction for the next 24 hours until a winner was declared. (Boston Herald)
