Kathie Lee’s party for Frank: Kathie Lee Party Frank, When it came time for Kathie Lee Gifford to honor her late husband, NFL legend Frank Gifford, she did not have a service for him, but instead threw a party to honor his memory.
On Tuesday morning’s episode of “Today,” co-host Kathie Lee said that they did not have a funeral for the football great, who died on Aug. 9 at the age of 84.
“We did not have a service for Frank last week. We had a party,” Kathie Lee said on the morning show, according to the Daily Mail. “Frank hated funerals. He hated boxes. He hated to be put in boxes. He hated to get in an elevator. So we played Frank Sinatra all day long and we had a party. The only criteria was, if you were there you had to be somebody that he adored, so it kept it nice and small.”
The “Today” host also talked about the New York Giants plans to honor the former running back later this season.
“The [New York Giants] just announced they’re going to honor Frank and Ann Mara, the matriarch of the wonderful Mara family…on their uniforms this season,” Gifford said, according to Us Weekly. “We’ll have number 16 on their helmets to honor Frank.”
She also revealed she was trying to plan something for the public to attend to honor the sports legend, E! News reported. Gifford said nothing was set in stone yet, but she realized she had to do some sort of public service after she received so many wonderful tweets from fans.
“I am so glad it resonated with so many of you out there.” Kathie Lee Gifford said about the overwhelming response to her tribute Monday to husband Frank Gifford. http://on.today.com/1MxyNip
