John Castle Breaks Finger,Millionaire John Castle breaks a waiters’ finger and no action is taken. The plutocrat claims the peasant waiter at the Palm Beach, Florida restaurant was a “schmuck” for delivering the bill to the table. Unbeknownst to him, his wife made the request.

While dining at Club Colette, an elite restaurant where only the oldest long money holders partake in dinner, a 50-year-old waiter delivered the bill to his guest’s table. It was the end of the meal, and at some point the man’s wife made the request, according to Gawker.

But when the humble server made an attempt to place the bill on the table, the man, 76, became indignant and went into a verbal rant. Apparently, among restaurants reserved for the rich, a Cardinal sin was broken by a commoner, above all things. But John Castle breaking the waiters’ finger is just too much.

“You schmuck, why did you bring the bill to the table?” the irate man said. The startled waiter tried explaining to Castle that his wife made the request. He said, “Because your lady asked for it,” while offering a pen.

Instead, the angry millionaire grabbed the lowly man’s fingers with a “tight grip,” and twisted them until there was excruciating pain. At some point, he released the servant from his clutches.

While the matter was reported to the restaurant, there was no action taken. After all, he is rich, and millionaires are exempt from being tossed out on the pavement for unruly behavior.

According to the police report, the injured Club Colette worker complained of pain the next morning, prompting a doctor’s visit. After a series of X-rays, it was learned a finger was fractured. Yes, John Castle broke the waiters’ finger just because the man did his job. Or did he?

According to the rules of engagement in private fine dining, checks are not physically delivered to a table. That type of service is reserved for commoners at places like Olive Garden or the Rusty Spoon. Instead, all bills are charged to an “account” to limit the amount of communication between servers and their rich guests.
