Jillian Michaels’ Nose Job at 16 Changed My Life, Jillian Michaels went under the knife at a young age, but it’s a decision she never regrets. The fitness guru has previously revealed that during her teen years, she decided to get a nose job, but during an exclusive interview with People, Michaels explains that her surgery helped build her confidence and even credits the rhinoplasty for changing her life.
“I had my nose done when I was 16 years old, and I’ll be honest, it did change my life,” she told the mag. After being bullied for her looks as a kid, Michaels says the surgery made her “feel more confident.”
“Not to say you should let your physicality define you, but there are some things that can make people feel really insecure,” she said. “So, if there is something you want to fix that allows you to feel a little bit more confident, I support it.”
She added, “I think it’s about [doing it for] the right reasons.”
In the 2010 issue of Parade’s Healthy Style, the 41-year-old openly talked about her struggles with self-esteem as a teen.
“In eighth grade, I weighed 175 pounds and my nose was the size of a softball,” she said at the time. “Once, I was sitting at lunch and got surrounded by a bunch of kids who let me have it about how ugly I was—my unibrow, the size of my nose, the fat rolling over my jeans. It was pure hell. My mom had to pull me out and put me in another school.”
She added, “I had my nose done. I felt much better about myself. Plastic surgery is a very personal decision.”
