Jeb Bush ‘Big boy pants’
Published: October 1, 2015
Jeb Bush ‘Big boy pants’, Jeb Bush was pretty frank: Donald Trump needs to put on his “big-boy pants.”
The latest round of sniping between the two GOP presidential candidates started Wednesday night over whether the United States should let Syrian refugees into the United States – and devolved from there. Bush, speaking in Bedford, New Hampshire, said the U.S. should “provide support” while Trump, in Keene, New Hampshire, said the refugees were a “tactical ploy” that terrorists would use to sneak into the country.
If he were president, Trump said, he’d send Syrian refugees back home.
Trump also mocked Bush’s crowd size and dug into the friendship-cum-rivalry between Bush and his fellow Floridian, Sen. Marco Rubio, whose poll numbers have risen since the second GOP debate.
Rubio and Bush “hate each other,” Trump declared, dating to the days when Bush was governor and Rubio was Florida House speaker – they’re only pretending to be friends. “It’s political bulls**t,” Trump said.
“First of all, I’m pretty sure Marco can put his big-boy pants on. I know I can,” Bush shot back Wednesday. “And I don’t, like – we’re friends. And I can take criticism. He can as well. Donald seems to have a harder time taking criticism and he probably needs to put on his big-boy pants too.”
“If you’re looking for the big guy on the stage, talking in the first-person singular – ‘I, I, I, me, me, me. It’s all about me’ – I’m not good at that,” Bush said of Trump. “You don’t win by telling people how stupid they are.”
