Is Fallon drinking too much?: Jimmy Fallon Drinking Problem

Is Fallon drinking too much?: Jimmy Fallon Drinking Problem, It’s possible Jimmy Fallon is just really clumsy. The late-night host is making so many trips to the ER lately, he might consider wearing a face shield and fencing gloves at all times. Last weekend, while in Cambridge to accept the Elmer Award for Excellence in Humour from the Harvard Lampoon, Fallon tumbled while carrying a bottle of Jagermeister. It shattered, slicing his right hand and forcing him to visit Massachusetts General Hospital.
This is not to be confused with the damage to his left hand, sustained in June when he nearly lost a finger after tripping over a “braided rug” in his kitchen. While attempting to catch his fall, his wedding band snagged on a countertop, leading to a ghastly “ring avulsion” injury. He needed microsurgery and spent 10 days in the ICU.
Fallon then got emergency dental work in August. He was trying to open a tube of anti-scar gel for his mangled finger — this is starting to sound like a bad improv skit — when he somehow chipped his tooth, which is like pulling a hamstring while reaching down to tie the laces on your orthopedic shoes.
One freak injury may be dismissed as bad luck. Two, and now you’re openly challenging the laws of probability. But three in four months? This is sure to invite unwanted scrutiny and conjecture.
According to a story in the New York Post this weekend, Fallon’s overlords at NBC are concerned their most bankable star is now drinking excessively. Citing unnamed sources, the Post story suggests Fallon’s partying has “gone from being a whisper to a chatter” at NBC.
There was a similar report in Radar this month. And this central question — “Does Jimmy Fallon have a drinking problem?” — has seeped into other gossip items.
What we know for sure is that Fallon enjoys the nightlife in New York, where The Tonight Show is taped and where he grew up. Before he landed the coveted gig, he frequented city bars, especially during his run on Saturday Night Live.
Horatio Sanz, who was his cast mate and “drinking buddy” at the time, told New York magazine last year: “We were super-functioning alcoholics, definitely.”
During one night of carousing, Fallon allegedly poured beer on the hat of another patron and then is said to have punched the patron when he complained, as one does. As Sanz stated: “The owner of the hat, we didn’t know who he was, said something like, ‘What the f— are you guys doing?’ and Jimmy just punched him. (The man) wasn’t that hurt; he just walked into a tornado of drunken stupidity. Yeah, Jimmy could fight. I don’t know where he learned, but he definitely scrapped with the best of them.”
