Matthew Shane Wester, 37, married Amy Nicole Cox, 18, over the weekend, AL.com reported.
The couple obtained a marriage license on June 8 and wed in Gulf Shores on Saturday, according to public records.
Authorities said the marriage could impact the criminal case against the former Cleveland High School math teacher.

‘I was provided a marriage license this morning out of Cullman County, which confirmed that they were married on Saturday in Gulf Shores,’ Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey told AL.com.
‘The charges currently pending against Mr Wester stem from an investigation of his relationship with the victim while she was a student and he was a teacher.’
Wester, who was also a coach at the high school, was placed on paid leave in November 2014 amid allegations that he had sexual contact with a female student before later resigning.
He was indicted on one count of a teacher having sexual contact with a student in January.
He ‘intentionally and knowingly engaged with a male or female student under the age of 19 in sexual contact which was done for the purpose of gratifying the sexual desire of either party, to wit – kissing and spending the night with the victim,’ according to the indictment.
The age of sexual consent in the state of Alabama is 16 under the current criminal code.
After it was reported that Wester was taken into custody over the allegations, Cox’s ex-boyfriend Don Brooks shared the story on Facebook with the caption ‘F****** disgusting!’
Wester was married when the investigation began and has one child to whom his ex-wife was granted custody, AL.com reported. His divorce was made final in April.
