Imprisoned daughters: Arizona Couple Imprisoned Daughters, A Pima County judge has set the date for the sentencing of two Arizona parents convicted of imprisoning and abusing their three girls.

Sentencing will be Feb. 16, the judge said.

Fernando and Sophia Richter were convicted Friday on three counts each of kidnapping and child abuse. Fernando Richter was also found guilty of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The jury also found that the charges would carry aggravating circumstances, which could lead to longer sentences.

The three girls testified that the Richters kept them captive in their Tucson home and rarely allowed them to use the restroom or leave their rooms.

Sophia Richter denied the allegations. Her husband’s attorney said the girls “embellished” their stories.

Authorities say two of the girls escaped in November 2013 after being held captive in their room for several months. The girls were 12, 13 and 17 at the time.

They testified that their parents physically abused them, confined them to their bedrooms, watched them through video feeds and forced them to urinate and defecate in their closets.

The defense said prosecutors didn’t have enough evidence and that the girls were free to roam about the house. Sophia Richter denied the allegations.
