Ex-NBAer dies at 34: Jackson Vroman, An NBA player who counted Justin Bieber, pro poker player Dan Bilzerian and NFL linebacker Shaun Phillips as pals has died after hitting his head and drowning in a pool at his Los Angeles home.
Jackson Vroman was 34 when he died Monday.
Initial reports indicated he’d been killed in a car wreck, but Bilzerian blasted the reports as false.
“He was sitting down, he got up to go inside the house, tripped on the stairs, hit his head and drown (sic) in the pool #RIP,” wrote Bilzerian on Twitter, alongside a photo of a smiling Vroman with his dog aboard a private plane.
The American-born Lebanese forward, who stood 6-foot-10, spent two years at Iowa State University before being plucked by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 2004 NBA Draft.
He bounced around the league, playing with the then-New Orleans Hornets and the Phoenix Suns.
Vroman also played for the Lebanese national team and his father, Brett Vroman, briefly spent time in the NBA.
