Ex-NBAer 34 killed: Jackson Vroman Killed, The Iowa State basketball community is mourning the death of one of its former stars.Jackson Vroman was found dead in a pool at his Los Angeles County residence on Monday morning, a spokesperson with the county’s Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner told The Register by phone late Monday night.
Vroman was 34.
The cause of death was not immediately available, as an investigator on the case has not finished a preliminary report. The county spokesperson said an autopsy was scheduled for later in the week.
Earlier reports, including a tweet from the Lebanese national basketball team, of which Vroman was previously a member, had prematurely indicated a vehicular incident as the cause of death.

The Phoenix Suns passed along their condolences through the social media service after the Lebanese team’s tweet before Iowa State’s athletics department posted a release of the death, citing the Twitter reports but not independently confirming the news.
Vroman spent two seasons with the Cyclones after transferring to Iowa State from Snow (Utah) Community College.
A native of Bountiful, Utah, Vroman averaged 13.9 points per game his senior season (2003-04) and led the Big 12 Conference in rebounding at 9.6 per game. His career rebounding average of 9.5 is a mark that ranks ninth all-time in school history.
Vroman was a second-round NBA Draft selection by the Chicago Bulls. He went on to play two NBA seasons with Phoenix and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City franchise displaced by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He continued to play professionally overseas until 2014.
