Escaped killer was drunk?: Richard Matt Drunk, Murderer Richard Matt burglarized a cabin where authorities discovered a half-empty bottle of gin and other bottles of liquor left on a table Friday morning, the Buffalo News said.
He was armed and “loaded.”

Fugitive inmate Richard Matt reeked of alcohol and was probably sloshed when he ignored orders from law enforcement to put down his shotgun, The Buffalo News reported Sunday.

“Matt was killed at 3:45 p.m. Friday, about two hours after squeezing off a shot at a passing car.

The convicted killer, who turned 49 a day before his death, burglarized a cabin where authorities discovered a half-empty bottle of gin and other bottles of liquor left on a table Friday morning, the newspaper said.

The mountain home belonged to the nephew of Malone Town Supervisor Howard Maneely, with authorities quickly summoned to the scene.

A few hours later, he was gunned down in the town of Duane, never uttering a word before law enforcement opened fire, authorities said.
