Daycare ‘Fight Club’

Published: September 3, 2015

Daycare ‘Fight Club’, The two former employees of a day care center who were accused of instigating and filming fights among the children in their care are only the most recent of several childcare employees who have been found encouraging kiddie “fight clubs.”

Erica Kenny, 22, of Cranford and Chanese White, 28, of Roselle both were charged with fourth-degree child abuse for the alleged fights between about a dozen children, ages 4 to 6, at the Lightbridge Academy day care center on South Avenue East, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park said Tuesday.

The charges shocked our readers, and yet, such “fight club” incidents have been reported three other times across the country since 2012. It’s unclear, however, if they were influenced by each other or some other source.

According to the report, one child can be heard yelling, “He’s pinching me,” while the employee responds, “No pinching, only punching.”

The day care had its license suspended pending a hearing, the report says, and appears to no longer be in business.

The three women pleaded guilty to the charges and were released on probation, according to Delaware State News.
