‘Darth’ robbery fail: Florida Robbery ‘Darth Vader’, Jacob Mercer was arrested after he attempted to rob a Jacksonville Beach convenience store while wearing a Darth Vader mask, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says.
A Darth Vader impersonator didn’t use enough force in his attempted robbery of a Florida convenience store on Sunday night.
Jacob Mercer, 32, allegedly walked into the Jacksonville Beach 8 till Late wearing dark clothing and a Darth Vader mask, pointed a gun at employees and demanded money.
When one clerk refused to hand over the cash, another store employee threw a jar of blue cheese dressing at the would-be robber and it struck him in the face, causing such a serious cut that Mercer fled the scene, according to surveillance video obtained by WTVJ-TV.
Eyewitnesses told police that Mercer removed the mask and was bloodied up by the laceration.
Mercer was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and armed robbery.
He got away in a silver car with New York license plates, but was apprehended later Sunday night.
Police found ammo and multiple handguns inside Mercer’s backpack.
After receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital, Mercer was transported to the local police station where witnesses ID’d him.
The mug shot shows the bearded bandit’s cut and bloodied face.
He was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and armed robbery and is being held without bail.
