Cops: Fake dentist arrested, A Texas man who allegedly faked being a dentist was arrested Wednesday after he held down a duped patient on her couch while yanking five teeth from her mouth, police said.
Mario Sabillon-Meja, 33, and his 41-year-old accomplice Tiffany Gonzalez face felony charges for the impersonations that authorities say resulted in the victim getting an infection.
The pair of alleged phonies pocketed $1,500 from the operation, police said.
The desperate victim, who told authorities she had toothaches but no dental insurance, had agreed to shell out $500 for an initial dental exam, $500 for the teeth removal and $500 for a follow-up exam, WFAA reported.
The procedure last month in West Oak Cliff left the victim in pain with heavy bleeding in her mouth, according to police records obtained by WFAA. She said she was given an “unknown type of medicine” for the pain.
She is “is going to require extensive medical and dental treatment to heal from her injuries,” Dallas police Lt. Tony Crawford told reporters Thursday.
