College remains closed: Washington College Closed, Washington College located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore will remain closed until Nov. 30th, the college announced Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the college stated that it would remain closed until Nov. 30th, continuing through Thanksgiving break.
The school first stated it was closed Tuesday in the interest of caution and due to new information that officers got earlier. Shortly after the first press release the school stated it was closed until further notice. At 3 p.m., the school stated that classed would be canceled Wednesday, Nov. 18th.
There is a warrant out for Jacob Marberger’s arrest. In addition, there is an ongoing search being done by the state and federal law enforcement.
According to the release, all students and staff are being told to go home if possible. If they cannot leave their residence halls right way they are being told to make other arrangements until further notice. Students who live off of campus should go back to their homes or return home as well if possible.
Faculty and students should continue to check their e-mails for updates on the status as the situation unfolds.
“We would like to reiterate that we have not had any direct threats against campus or any members of our community, but in the interest in caution we feel closing campus until the situation changes is the best course of action. Anyone who has contact with Jacob should contact law enforcement immediately,” Washington College stated in a release.
