Brooke Shields And Walking Cane At Met Gala
Published: May 10, 2012
Brooke Shields And Walking Cane At Met Gala, Brooke Shields showed a refreshing lack of celebrity vanity when she showed up at Monday’s star-studded Met Costume Institute Gala with a cane.
The actress wore an eye-catching J. Mendel gown that showed off her figure, but her walking aid also had attendees talking. But why was the cane there in the first place?
E! News’ Giuliana Rancic asked the 46-year-old star about her new accessory, and Shields revealed she had torn her meniscus in her knee, which sounds painful and, well, cane-worthy. Apparently she did it while recently performing as Morticia Addams in the Broadway hit The Addams Family.
Yet does a torn meniscus stop Brooke Shields? Never! The actress shrugged off the injury like a damn pro, casually describing it as “not a big deal, it’s inconvenient.” She allowed herself a brief whinge however, adding that steps at the Met Museum’s elaborate staircase “didn’t help” her much, but noting, “We’ll do anything for fashion!
