‘Bodyguard’ homes for sale: Bodyguard Estate For Sale, The lakeside lodge used in The Bodyguard film starring Kevin Costner and the late Whitney Houston has gone on sale for $8million.
The Fallen Leaf Lake estate is decked from floor to ceiling in wood, has five bedrooms and boasts a view of the lake from every single room in the house.
It boasts three acres of forest, a three-car garage and a 76ft pier into the lake – on which a boat explodes moments after carrying Rachel’s son and Frank in the movie.
But its Hollywood history will no doubt appeal to buyers who are fans of the film which featured the best-selling soundtrack in history.
In the 1992 blockbuster, Houston played music diva Rachel Marron and Costner plays former secret service agent Frank who has become her bodyguard.
And while it starts in her lavish Beverley Hills home, when her life is put in jeopardy by a dangerous stalker, the pair run away to Frank’s father’s house by the lake.
In the movie, it’s a fairly basic log cabin but in reality, this luxurious retreat by the lake is a hugely desirable property that’s recently been put on the market for $8million – £5.2million.
Given the name Tallac House for the breath-taking views of Mount Tallac, which towers above the lake, the rustic wood cabin was originally designed by famous architect Paul Hamilton for the family who have owned the property for the last 45 years.
Broker Doug Rosner said: ‘I’m told Whitney loved the house – she didn’t want to leave.
‘The house was chosen for the film because of its private and secluded location on one of the most beautiful and enchanting small lakes in America.
‘It’s also just a few minutes to South Lake Tahoe and Stateline, Nevada, for dining, shopping, gambling and recreation for the cast and crew.’
The film’s soundtrack included I Will Always Love You, arguably the most famous song every released by tragic singer Whitney Houston who died in February 2012.
She was found dead at the Beverley Hilton Hotel, Beverley Hills, after accidentally taking a drug overdose, prompting a public outpouring of tributes from fans and some of the world’s biggest stars.
