Amy’s topless shoot slammed: Amy Schumer Star Wars Inappropriate, The force may not be so strong with Amy Schumer. The hilarious comedian, 34, covered the latest issue of GQ magazine with a sexy Star Wars-themed photo shoot, but the companies behind the sci-fi franchise are hardly pleased with the images.
The official Star Wars Twitter account responded to multiple tweets from outraged fans who took issue with the steamy cover. Schumer, 34, is captured on the front of the August issue with C-3PO, and is shown sucking the Star Wars droid’s finger while wearing a Princess Leia-inspired getup.
Inside the issue, Schumer puts a lightsaber in her mouth while wearing the braids and bikini. She also poses topless in bed with C-3PO and R2-D2, a cigarette hanging from her mouth as she suggestively cozies up to the two famed characters.
Responding to a Tweet reading, “I can’t believe @Disney signed off on the use of @starwars characters/props in the fashion depicted in @GQMagazine,” the Star Wars account wrote, “Lucasfilm & Disney did not authorize, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner.”
The reps for Star Wars continued to send the same message over and over again to fans who called the pictures “distasteful.” The movies’ veteran lead star Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), however, had a different take on the shots, tweeting this past weekend, “Got excited when I saw @amyschumer @GQMagazine pics & thought she was just cast in Ep 8! We should be so lucky.”
While Schumer may not be in the upcoming Star Wars trilogy, she is seeing her own big-screen success with the weekend release of her Bill Hader-assisted comedy, Trainwreck. Written by Schumer and directed by Judd Apatow, the flick hit theaters on Friday, July 17, and made an impressive $30 million on its opening weekend.
