Actor critical: Sean Malone Critical, Sean Malone, who appeared in the movies Gone, Baby, Gone and The Fighter, is reported to be in critical condition in a Boston hospital after a near drowning Monday.
The 54-year-old actor was pulled from the water by an off duty firefighter and three local teens after being found floating face down in the ocean off the M Street Beach.
The South Boston native was unconscious when rescuers reached him having reportedly got into trouble after swimming a long way out, according to local TV news station WCVB.
Malone, who most recently worked with John Travolta on the 2014 film The Forger, is the brother of Deputy Fire Chief Scott Malone of the Boston Fire Department.
The Boston Globe reports that a firefighter Chris Flaherty was working out with other firefighters on the beach when he became concerned at how far out Malone was swimming.
He went out on a paddleboard towards him but couldn’t find him.

Malone was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was listed as ‘critical’ Monday night.
A spokesperson foe the Boston FD, Steve MacDonald, said Malone’s family is grateful for all those who helped the actor.
‘They’re praying for the best,’ he told the Globe.
