4 dead in Georgia: Georgia Murder Suicide, A gunman killed a woman and her two young children inside a suburban Georgia home early Wednesday before fatally shooting himself, police said.
Forsyth County sheriff’s officials identified Matthew Fields, 32, as the shooter behind the murder-suicide in a home near Atlanta.
Fields killed 37-year-old Rebecca Manning, along with her two boys, 8-year-old Jared Smith and 9-year-old Jacob Smith, authorities said.
Matthew Fields (seen in the 2003 mug shot) was identified as the shooter behind the murder-suicide in a home near Atlanta.
The shooter also critically injured Manning’s 75-year-old father before turning the gun on himself after the 6 a.m. bloody rampage in Suwanee, Ga.
Fields was known among local law officers from previous arrests, authorities said.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting. There were indications Fields and Manning had relationship troubles, Forsyth County Sheriff Maj. Rick Doyle said.
“This is a tragic incident and your thoughts and prayers for the family are appreciated,” the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
