2-year-old girl found, Allegheny County police are treating the death of a 2-year-old girl as a homicide.
According to investigators, Adrionna Williams of Wilkinsburg was found dead in a shallow ravine near Chalmers Street in Swissvale Sunday evening.
Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski reported that a dog walker found the body just before 8 p.m., less than an hour after family members went to Wilkinsburg police to report her missing.
Allegheny County police told Channel 11 the child was last seen alive at approximately 6:30 p.m. and the body appeared to have been left in Swissvale after the death occurred elsewhere.
Investigators do not believe the child was abducted by a stranger, and they are treating her death as a homicide.
The autopsy was started on Monday, and testing will continue through the week.
Anyone who heard or saw something suspicious is being asked to contact Allegheny County police.
The investigation is ongoing.
A small group of people gathered Monday evening to hold a vigil for the toddler.
“She lost her life before she even knew she had one,” said Sherell Bandy.
Most at the vigil had never met Williams but wanted to pay their respects to the young victim.
“This little girl was only two years old, and she didn’t do anything to anybody,” Taz’he Dean said. “Why would they ever do something like this to a little girl?”
